We will love God, One Another, and the Earth by
Providing Sanctuary, Practicing Hospitality, and Performing Ministry.
The United Church Camps Mission Statement, continually brought to life at Pilgrim Center and Moon Beach, guides the safe, fun, and exciting programs. Through the generous support of the Wisconsin Conference of the United Church of Christ, we have focused on serving this way for over 115 years. It is WHAT we do. We provide safe, fun, and exciting programs in safe, fun, and exciting places!
We want to give so much more! We want to help you and your families do something that is nearly impossible in society today … We want to help protect the Sabbath! The craziness of our 24/7, social media-infused, “pulled in every direction” lives has trampled all over any concept of Sabbath. We overschedule, overcommit, and overwhelm so much that there is no room to listen to God.
Moon Beach and Pilgrim Center endeavor to provide spaces to relax, unwind, disconnect, reconnect, breathe, and be with our Creator. Marva J. Dawn in Matthew Sleeth’s Book 24/6 defines Sabbath well:
Sabbath…means to cease not only from work itself, but also from the need to accomplish and be productive, from the worry and tension that accompany our modern criterion of efficiency … from our efforts to be in control of our lives as if we were God.
Let’s give control back to God. Take time right now to make a date with the Divine. Peruse the schedule … consult with your friends and family and figure out what event(s) work. Make an Outdoor Ministry Event at Pilgrim Center or Moon Beach a priority in your life. We believe if you do … if you slow down, relax, and listen … you will undoubtedly hear the soothing voice of God say that you are loved!
